Project objectives : To estimate the total value of wetland ecosystems and the linkages between human usage and the state of those ecosystems in Sri Lanka; to extend current understanding of the potential held by natural wetland ecosystems to assist in addressing the challenges of population growth and consumer demand on wetland resources; to advise and train users of mangroves on best management practices while maintaining mangrove ecosystem integrity; to estimate human demand for wetland resources and ecosystem services using mangroves in the project area.
