To produce a computer based database to help the authorities in zoning the Galapagos Marine Reserves. The unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands is famous world-wide. This is supported by a marine system which has received far less scientific attention. The marine biodiversity, as yet poorly described, is under severe pressure now due to increasing large scale exploitation and an expanding population. There is a need to know why, where and what needs immediate protection. This project, in collaboration with the Charles Darwin Research Station, Galapagos, is intended to provide the Galapagos National Park authorities with a sound computer based database to help them in zoning the Galapagos Marine Reserve.
